"..So then I went on a hunt for grid installations and was struck by several groupings of black-and-white images throughout the Drill Hall. At PDNB Gallery is a series by Vitaly Smirnov of old wooden garden sheds used by Muscovites at their weekend dachas. Shot in 2008 and printed not much larger than postcards, with a sepia wash, this group of images suggests timeless connections and family histories..."

PDNB Gallery is excited to participate once again in the
2012 Photography Show from March 29th - April 1st.
Works that will be highlighted will include a U.S. premiere of
Contemporary Russian photography. Artists include:
Gregori Maiofis, Ivan Mihailov, Valery Samarin,
Vitaly Smirnov, and Evgen Zaluzhny.
THE SECOND PHOTOBIENNALE
THE SECOND PHOTOBIENNALE OF THE MODERN PHOTOGRAPHY will take place at the Marble Palace (The Russian Museum, St.Petersburg, Russia) from March 23 till the end of May 2012. Vitaly Smirnov’s series “IDEAL CITY” and “THE HUTS” will be presented at the exhibition.
